Formulation Advantages

Manufacturing Challenges & How RS Pigments Solves Them

Technical bottlenecks in printing inks & packaging often result from pigment agglomeration, heat degradation, or resin interaction. Our refined inorganic formulations eliminate these issues.

0 1

Anilox & Gravure Cylinder Wear and Scoring

Industry Bottleneck: Abrasive minerals and hard pigment agglomerates cause premature wear on ceramic anilox rollers and chrome-plated gravure printing cylinders, degrading print quality and driving up tooling replacement costs.
RS Pigments Solution: RS Pigments ultramarines feature a low Mohs hardness of 2.5–3.0 and spherical particle geometry, dramatically reducing cylinder abrasion and extending printing plate service life.
0 2

Solvent Bleed & Migration in Food Packaging

Industry Bottleneck: Organic colorants bleed into packaging solvents (esters, ketones, alcohols) and risk migrating through polyethylene packaging films into food contact layers.
RS Pigments Solution: Our inorganic pigments are completely insoluble in all common ink solvents, printing oils, and water, eliminating bleeding, strike-through, and packaging migration.
0 3

Solar UV Degradation in Outdoor Packaging and Billboard Displays

Industry Bottleneck: Outdoor display cartons, sacks, and plastic films exposed to direct sunlight suffer rapid photochemical fading within weeks when formulated with low-cost organic blues.
RS Pigments Solution: RS Ultramarine Blue and Violet achieve top ratings of 7 to 8 on the Blue Wool Scale, providing long-term outdoor lightfastness and weather resistance.

Processing Guidelines

Dispersion, Dosing & Medium Compatibility

Recommended Dosing: 5.0% – 15.0% in flexo/gravure liquid inks; up to 25.0% in paste and screen printing inks
Processing Temperature Range: Ambient to 150°C (during ink curing, drying ovens, or UV curing tunnels)
Dispersion & Milling Recommendation: Grind in bead mills or basket mills using 0.5–1.0 mm zirconia beads. Incorporate standard polymeric hyperdispersants for optimal gloss and rheology.
