Manufacturing Challenges & How RS Pigments Solves Them

Technical bottlenecks in paints & industrial coatings often result from pigment agglomeration, heat degradation, or resin interaction. Our refined inorganic formulations eliminate these issues.

0 1

Lime Saponification and Bleaching on Fresh Masonry

Industry Bottleneck: High-alkaline cementitious substrates (fresh plaster, stucco, concrete) leach calcium hydroxide at pH 12–13, saponifying organic pigments and causing severe patchy discoloration and fading.
RS Pigments Solution: RS Ultramarine Blue and Violet possess complete alkali resistance (5/5 rating), remaining entirely stable in contact with lime, cement, and alkaline architectural surfaces.
0 2

Severe Color Shift in High-Bake Industrial Stoving Enamels

Industry Bottleneck: Coil coatings, automotive underbody primers, and industrial appliance enamels bake at temperatures between 180°C and 250°C, scorching organic blues and shifting their hue.
RS Pigments Solution: Our specialized inorganic pigment grades maintain their precise spectrophotometric chromaticity up to 350°C, ensuring batch-to-batch color consistency across baking cycles.
0 3

Premature Fading and Chalking in Exterior Architectural Façades

Industry Bottleneck: Intense solar UV radiation breaks chemical bonds in standard exterior paints, causing rapid hue desaturation, chalking, and loss of gloss.
RS Pigments Solution: With a lightfastness rating of Blue Wool Scale 7–8, RS Pigments provide decades of exterior durability in architectural coatings and exterior masonry finishes.

Processing Guidelines

Dispersion, Dosing & Medium Compatibility

Recommended Dosing: 0.05% – 0.5% for optical white brightening; 2.0% – 12.0% for deep solid blues and violets
Processing Temperature Range: Ambient to 250°C (for baking enamels, coil coatings, and thermoset powder coatings)
Dispersion & Milling Recommendation: Pre-disperse using a high-speed Cowles dissolver at tip speeds of 18–22 m/s, followed by one pass through a horizontal bead mill to achieve Hegman grind gauge readings > 7.0.
