Manufacturing Challenges & How RS Pigments Solves Them

Technical bottlenecks in rubber & elastomers often result from pigment agglomeration, heat degradation, or resin interaction. Our refined inorganic formulations eliminate these issues.

0 1

Discoloration During High-Temperature Vulcanization

Industry Bottleneck: Organic colorants and unstable pigments decompose or darken when subjected to high-pressure vulcanization presses operating at 150°C–180°C in the presence of sulfur accelerators.
RS Pigments Solution: RS synthetic ultramarines feature an exceptionally stable aluminosilicate cage that remains inert during sulfur and peroxide cure systems, preserving pure reddish-blue or violet shades.
0 2

Plasticizer Bleed & Blooming in White Soles and Weatherstripping

Industry Bottleneck: Soluble organic dyes migrate through oil-extended elastomers and bloom to the surface, contaminating adjacent profiles and causing severe contact staining.
RS Pigments Solution: Our pigments are 100% insoluble in plasticizers, aromatic process oils, and hydrocarbons, ensuring zero migration and clean boundary lines in multi-colored rubber goods.
0 3

Catalytic Aging from Trace Heavy Metals

Industry Bottleneck: Trace levels of copper and manganese act as potent pro-oxidants, accelerating rubber embrittlement, ozone cracking, and flex fatigue failure.
RS Pigments Solution: RS Pigments rubber grades are certified ultra-low in pro-oxidant metals (Copper < 50 ppm, Manganese < 10 ppm), preventing premature oxidative polymer breakdown.

Processing Guidelines

Dispersion, Dosing & Medium Compatibility

Recommended Dosing: 0.5% – 2.0% for translucent or tinted rubber; 2.0% – 6.0% for opaque solid goods
Processing Temperature Range: 140°C – 200°C (standard rubber curing cycles)
Dispersion & Milling Recommendation: Incorporate during the early mastication phase on an open two-roll mill or internal Banbury mixer alongside zinc oxide and stearic acid to ensure complete micro-dispersion.
