Ultramarine Blue Pigment
Synthetic Inorganic Sodium Alumino Sulfosilicate • C.I. 77007 / Pigment Blue 29
High-performance synthetic inorganic sodium alumino sulfosilicate pigment engineered for thermal stability up to 350°C in heat-resistant grades, exceptional alkali resistance, and non-warping dimensional stability in polyolefins.
Lattice Chemistry & 6-Sector Industrial Applications
Synthetic Ultramarine Blue combines a zeolitic aluminosilicate sodalite cage with trapped radical sulfur chromophores, yielding unmatched dimensional stability and chemical permanence.
Sodalite Cage Chemistry & Color Physics
Synthetic Ultramarine Blue is produced by high-temperature solid-state calcination (>800°C) of clay, soda ash, and sulfur. The resulting sodalite framework encapsulates trisulfur radical anions (S₃⁻) inside rigid aluminosilicate cages.
These sulfur radicals absorb yellow, orange, and red wavelengths, transmitting pure, vibrant reddish-blue light. Because the chromophore is hermetically encased in the crystal lattice, it is 100% insoluble in water and organic solvents, eliminating migration and solvent bleed.
Non-Nucleating Dimensional Polyolefin Stability
Organic pigments such as copper phthalocyanine act as heterogeneous crystal nucleators in semi-crystalline resins (HDPE, PP). This causes differential cooling rates and severe post-molding warpage in bottle closures, caps, and large industrial crates.
Synthetic Ultramarine Blue is completely non-nucleating. Polymer melts cool isotropically with uniform shrinkage in both machine and transverse directions, preserving critical dimensional tolerances and preventing distortion.
